Concrete Swimming Pools verses Fibreglass Pools
When I first started Rogers Pools in 1993, fibreglass pools were approximately 60% of the cost of a concrete pool. As a result they were viewed as a viable option to people who could not afford the extra cost of a concrete swimming pool. Today that is not the case as a fibreglass pool costs the same and in some cases more than a concrete pool so cost is no longer a reason to have a fibreglass pool installed rather than a concrete pool built.
It is a fact fibreglass pools do not have the strength or lasting qualities of concrete pools (have you seen any bridges built out of fibreglass, heard of any fibreglass pools in Rome). Over the years I have been requested to remove quite a number of fibreglass pools that had deteriorated to such an extent they were irreparable and replace them with concrete pools. We have never been required to remove a concrete one. In the same timeframe a fibreglass pool deteriorates to the point of needing replacement, a concrete pool may need a makeover, perhaps a new coping or interior. A huge difference in cost.
